Need help.

Dave: Try some WD-40, apply it with the the little red straw. After you soak it in a bucket of fresh water for a few minutes. Hope that helps.

I put the whole detector on the workbench, got a piece of wood and a hammer and gently tapped all around the coil. Came off with no problem.

If you have an air compressor, blow air between coil and coil cover while you pull on the cover.

Don't use a coil cover and cover the bottom with a non metallic sealant as that wet salt sand needs frequent removal lest it affects performance of your unit..I have seen a new
lightweight cover out that is easily removed but only fits newer CZ' coils must be a minute difference in older and newer coils...Personally use Jabbo's method with a lot of patience....And of course some clean the coil well put on a new one and put sealant all along the edges for a sort of permanent cover..Many ways to skin a cat I would guess...surel fits tight but does collect dirt and sand probably the reason for the new lightweight cover which can be removed rather easily...

I had to soak mine for awhile in soapy water to get it off, I cracked one side of the outrside edge when it finally did release. It is now much easier to remove with the crack. Wish it had cracked a long time ago.

The WD-40 and warming up the cover in hot water helps getting it off. To save all this trouble next time coat bottom of the coil with Marine Epoxy. No more black sand getting under the coil......
