NEED HELP...XLT with missing line...

Hopskippy

New member
I'm looking at an XLT that has a missing line in the display. Everything seems perfect except that one line. Its missing on every screen. It does not seem to effect anything, it can be read just fine. Is this something to worry about? If anyone can help me out on this, I sure would appreciate it !

First, try to clean the display ribbon or just pull out the ribbon and re-insert will often be enough, over time it will oxidize. In a worse case scenario, you will have to replace the display, again user do able. A new display can be ordered from service, or used to anyway.

Larry hit the nail on the head that wire ribbon sometimes loosens or is not getting good contact and would try what Larry advises. Certainly not that hard to check both ends and if you are all thumbs perhaps a local dealer or club member could help. I have done several times on XLT's and worked everytime for me. If that doesn't work give Whites a call for further info as screen pods do fail after years of use in some instances.

Thanks guys, it belongs to a friend. He is a bit afraid to start taking it apart. He does feel better knowing this problem has happened on other units and was easily repaired.

One never knows it could be the meter pod going but over the years that wire band was an easy fix for me several times...Might talk to a local dealer or perhaps a clubmember as I am all thumbs and was not a major problem repairing same...One thing to remember is the rubber underneath the meter pad must be removed or the case will not split in half..Whites will send you a new rubber if you request one....

Again, you guys are great folks! I knew if I posted here, a couple of you ACES would steer me right. :please:

Just picked up an XLT for myself. I will be looking for some program settings that are best for silver coins.
Anyone wanting to share their settings, feel free to send to my email. hopskippy@live.com
Any helpful tips would be much appreciated !!!!!!
