Need Help with XT-70

Ron Y

New member
Hi Everyone,

I'm a new XT-70 owner for around a month.

Today I put the 70 in prospect mode to check target size and noticed the tone changed to a much higher pitch.

Is this tone an adjustable feature or is there something wrong the unit ?

I did a reset and still the same.

Any ideas people ?

Thanks,

Ron

Thats what she does in prospect mode......only adjustment is in volum. TomB:wacko:

TomB,

Yes I have used prospect mode often, only now it seem an octave higher.

I was thinking, like in pinpoint the tone rises the closer you are to your target.

Well this sound is a lot higher to start with and goes up form there.

I watched the DVD and the prospect section the sound starts a little lower than rises, but this starts way higher and go so high it blanks out.

Didn't understand your post...sorry. Thought you ment it was the first time trying prospect mode. Can't explain the higher tone seance I never have encountered it. Tom

On page 38 of the manual it talks about the threshold tone. It says to push the menu button while in prospect mode until you see tones then use the + or - keys to change the tone. Don't know if this is what you are talking about or not....

While in prospecting mode you can change the pitch of the tone higher or lower. Push the menu button while in prospecting - you'll find it. If the tone just starts going up then goes away lift the coil and try again. It's overloading. Sounds like it's working right to me.

Thanks You Gentlemen,

That was it,works just fine now. It seems I have a lot more to learn about this fine machine. I made the mistake of looking on page 19 referring to prospecting instead of page 38.

I am sure glad we have this forum, best one on the net for the X-Terra Series. The Owners Manual is a good primer but the info here really goes in depth.

Thanks Again,

Ron
