found this at a 1812 camp dont know what it is. found several musket balls and KY rifle balls 4 or 5 buttons and this item. need help with the identity. i will put more pics on later

If its the item on the right, could be a sword hanger of some type. Just guessing; never seen one like that. Good solid brass piece. Congrats.

hi tdyer. i can see you had a good day, you have some interesting finds there. i think it's either a worn through horse reins guide or it could be turned upside down and used to hang a stewpot over a fire. theyr'e both just guesses, though. whatever it is, it's a neat brass piece. hh!

Early sword hanger or maybe even a boot scraper. Sword hanger is better of the two guesses. Size seems about right but it doesn't look like it would take much to detach an affixed sword. You could always look in the Sprouse book and look at Rev. War hangers, which might be similar.

tdyer, really neat stuff. The loop dealio is a harness fitting (forgot the name of it) and you'll find them occasionally in the much older farm fields in the east. Your's has a hook on it, but some have hooks like your's, and others have brass pin instead of a hook. The loops are the same on both. I'll see if I can dig up my examples tonight and make some scans.
