need help with this american button

found this on a welsh hillside overlooking liverpool last week .can anyone shed some light on it its definetly american and i think quiet early .the legend reads

mississippi dominion steamship company limited .

in the upper circle there is a beaver ,on either side there is a flamingo,and in the bottom circle there is a sailing steamship ,two masts under sail and a funnel with smoke coming out .any ideas on age or rarity please

none that i can make out ,remains of iron rusty pin on reverse though ,i'll try to cut it off and look
