Need help with target ID

I have owned my Explorer for about 2 months now, and have been using it quite a bit. I have used it at sites where I should be finding some silver coins (old schools and home sites), but to date have only found clad. My question is this - should silver quarters and dimes read, on the smartfind discrimination screen, in the same places that clad quarters and dimes do? I am getting pretty good at ID'ing clad quarters and dimes, but I was wondering if the silver ones are showing up at different places on the screen, and I am missing them by not digging targets that are not registering where the clad quarters and dimes are showing up. Secondly, how deep are most of the silver coins that you are digging up? I have found coins as deep as 8 inches and they are only clad, which is very disappointing. Also, if any of the experts here could post some general information regarding target ID'ing, I am sure that it would be very beneficial to us newer Explorer owners. Thanks alot and Happy Hunting!!

Hey Curtis! You have nothing to worry about. There is no way you would ever miss a good silver hit. Here are some screens that will probably help.

Curtis, I have owned my Exporer for only about 5 months. I have found a few silvers along with the many clad we all find. Yes, they do read up almost exactly in the same place on the smartfind screen. You shouldn't miss any. The signal is ususally nice and clear. If you are digging clad, you will definitely recognize silver when you sweep over some. The real challenge is sorting out the silver among the square nails, and rusty nuts and bolts. I tend to dig alot of them. Good Luck! Ed
