Need Help With SE

I have a Minelab SE and I have had it for about 7 months. I have to say that I use the machine pretty well and I am pretty familiar with the machine. My problem is, I have the CW camp site that I have been digging and it is absolutely FULL of IRON. When I say full, with no exaggeration you CAN NOT make a swing without detecting over some type of iron. I am having a really hard time separating good targets from bad ones. I have tried a smaller coil with some luck but it is just not getting deep enough, the reason is the grass is a little taller than usual. I have tried adjusting the recovery speed but that really does not seem to work. There is just so much iron and it is so close together. Can anyone help or have a solution for setting up the machine. Remember I am not exaggerating the iron it is almost to the point of unbelievable.

Thanks
Jason

dig all the iron out you can and then the good stuff might be there and some of those iron hits might be cicil war relics of one kind or another , just my 2 cents worth

Jason, you've got problems !
You're looking for relics, but while seeking these relics; you are wanting to disc out some of the overwhelming iron that's there.

I'm guessing you will be hoping for some iron keeper relics , maybe pistols, swords, bayonets etc.

As Daveo suggests, you will probably have to remove as much iron as you can, and patiently work the site.

Most of us hunt places totally loaded with iron. Not much you can do, Try different coil sizes, I've pulled some stuff out of heavy iron with the 15" WOT. But basically you just need to hit it at many different angles and if you get a signal thats hitter higher than iron dig it.

Try running the machine with no discrimination in ferrous tones. It will be noisy but you may hear higher tones amongst the low iron.

Hey that means that you have a great place to hunt! That means that that area has probably discouraged other hunters. You will find some significant iron relics from that age site that you don't want to leave behind.... that said, if your bound and determined to leave the iron you will leave behind several "treasures" I promise. The first thing I would try to do is hunt in all metal, ferrous tones and slow down to a crawl...only swing your detector enough to elicit a signal by movement..that will help separation a lot...go from different angles...actually grid the area and cover from 45 degree angles from previous pass....use a WOT like a pinpoint probe on edge front down from better deep separation.......That said I have a buddy that will hunt an area the size of small lot all year long and remove everything...you would be amazed what he finds after he has removed all the iron masking junk....do i have that much fortitude...NO! but seeing his finds makes me wish I did!
