Need help with medallion

New member
Found this Old Queen Victoria medallion at an old 1800's school site with my explorer but I cannot find any evidence of it on the net. Maybe some of you have seen something like it before.

Hard to tell for sure but what writing I can make out looks like a Queen Victoria medal commemerating the appointment of John Hamilton-Gordon, Lord Aberdeen, to Governor-General of Canada in 1893. I found a couple sites with many different Queen Victoria medals, but your particular one wasn't depicted. Nice find though, and a great piece of history. HH, Mike.
