Need Help With Coin/Token ? I.D.

Found this yesterday when detecting in one of our oldest parts of town. The coin or token is the size of a half dollar and appears to be made of silver it is badly worn and corroded. The image of a person standing on the front is the only thing that can be seen. I dug this about 9 inches in a heavily laden cinder and ash area. Any help would be appreciated.

He appears to be facing left, with a sword held up in front of him. There wasn't anything left on the reverse?

Looks like he is riding a four legged animal.

It does not match the walking liberty but has some similarities. Other close coins I have found so far are a halfpenny, its about the size of a half dollar. The colonial cartwheel, its a big coin.

This one looks similar...George II Halfpenny 1756.....

If by chance your images are reversed left and right, this would be similar, its a large penny.....

This one sure has me boggled I have also been researching online and can find nothing that matches it. Thanks for the info....

Compare it to a 1913 French 10 centimes Liberty Head coin and see what you think.

I think thats it! heres a pic... Theres several things that match up like the childs hand that is held upwards (which is grasping a hammer?). The womans head has two points that are both very visible.

Great sleuthing. Congrats!

The hammer is in the childs left hand and is held upside down. I wonder why their image of Lady Liberty wears a helmet, while the statue they gave us, shows her wearing a crown.

Lady Liberty has been portrayed several different ways, such as wearing a cap on the capped bust Liberty or Flowing Hair Liberty Large cent and the Barber which has a right-facing stern-looking Liberty head wearing a leafy hair band.

There are many more US coins with Lady Liberty wearing different head wear and some with none.

Thank you for the info Is this coin also the size of a half dollar?

Yes, I found it on eb@y, while looking for a coin for another member. They said their coin was 30 mm in size, so I looked for 30 mm under world coins when I saw this. If your coin is silver and this one is say copper, yours could be a higher value or even a different era. But the design was so similar, I thought I would post what I found and you can take it from there.
