Need help with an old ADS I

hobbit

New member
Just picked up an old Garrett Master Hunter ADS I because I have some friends who are getting into relic hunting and I figure this might be an O.K. starter unit. I have looked on the web for a manual and it is the only ADS that I can't seem to find one for. They are available for the ADS II, III, 4, 5, 7, but I can't find one for the ADS I. Can anyone help me on this one? I would be willing to purchase it. Also, does anyone know if there is a Bloodhound Depth Multiplier that will work with this unit? Thanks in advance.

I don't remember a bloodhound option being available for that unit when it came out. I had that detector and almost every option for it except the speed handle and the coil with the 50 foot cable. My 1980 catalog doesn't show a bloodhound coil, and I don't know if later ADS models that had the bloodhound option use the same coil or not.

That was probably the best detector I ever owned, but it's a monster. If you don't already have arms like Popeye, you will after a few weeks of slinging that thing. I used the option armrest that slit into the back of handle. Make a Costco trip for 9volts. And try to get the large searchcoil option for that detector. It will give a noticeable difference in depth for both coins and relics.
