Need help with 8 inch coil selection

I have the stock 11 incher on my E-trac but would like a smaller coil for those trashy parks, 8 inches sounds about right...Someone posted the 8 inch accelerator that Kellyco sells isn't very good(depth wise)...can anyone recommend a good one??..

Thanks
Dave

I have tried several of the 8 inch coils and by far the Sun Rays X-8 is my favorite coil. In fact that has been my main coil on my E-Trac as it works so good and easier to learn the E-Trac. I only tried the 15X12 SEF coil one time before the freeze up for us in ND, otherwise it has been the X-8 coil.

xGregx has a Sunray 8" coil listed in the detector accessories for $120 shipped. Pretty good deal. IMO

In my testing, I've only had the stock Minelab so I can't tell you about the Sunray which may be an excellent coil. I do however have an X-5 to compare, and the stock Minelab 8 inch I have separated targets better than the X-5 did (it is the best coil I have at target separation).

You can get them used for about $100. Not a bad deal at all.

I have a Sunray 8 inch,,, I bought it off Ebay for around 90 bucks,,, Great condition, and I LOVE IT !!!!!!!! Separates awesome,,,First day i tried it,, I found a barber dime at 8 inches and a Wheat'y in heavy trash around 8-9 inches.. I think there is one listed on ebay at the moment... the coil is definitely a keeper!!!!

Dave,

I would suggest the new SEF coil that is a DD coil and is a 8x6 Excellerator. Please feel free to call me at Kellyco.

I use the sr8 and the ml 8 sits on the shelf. The SR8 gets better separation, better depth and is lighter than the ML8. The concentric Excellerator concentric 8 is more of a specific use coil for me. Because a concentric's signal is cone shape, when I get a shallow iffy, sometimes I can lift the coil off the ground and pick coins out in VERY THICK TRASH, that I couldn't with a double D 8 inch. All and all if I had to choose a specific 8 inch coil, my vote would easily be cast for the SR 8.
