My friend dug up this Civil War Rosette last weekend.

It has a wheat , plow, and a farm design on it. A Picture can be found on page 134 and the # is 9 at the bottom. The book is "Civil War Artifacts" A guide for the Historian.

Written by Howard Crouch

If you can help me to identify this Rosette and also let me know what it is worth .

Thanks:

You can also email me at swanduck1@aol.com

It sounds like you have already Identified it but we need a picture to be able to see it. If you have the book you referred to, you could take a picture of the item. For many if us without the book we cannot see it.
Does it look like this?

Here's a nice bridal rosette that's listed in Civil War Artifacts A guide for the Historian. Crouch states "Civilian rosette bearing a shock of wheat, plow and farm design" actual order L-R is plow, shock of wheat & farm design "Possibly emblematic of the farmer's "Grange" organization and which may post date the war". Is it just me or does this look like a Tennessee state seal?? Refer to Albert's Button Book TN 2,3,4. The rosette measures about 1 1/2-2 inches across, brass front with lead filled back. The front shows tiny traces of silver gilt. I am not sure of its exact age but this is a dug relic...one of those things that makes you say hmm. One serious collector states most likely civilian, most are silvered & "yes they have the feel of Tennessee". May very well pre-date the war & are confederate. Still looking for information. (#2 says his was dug in a CS camp in Social Circle, GA...just South of Atlanta.
SOURCE Near the bottom of page....9/10th towards bottom.

I had doubts of the rosette ID becuase of the two holes , but Found a pic of one with no holes , so the holes were added later.
