Need Help to ID Button

The attached button is one made by the Waterbury Button Co. This is stamped on the brass back. The front is silver colored. It appears to be a Military button to me. I called the Waterbury Button Co. and they said they couldn't help me. ?????? They referred me to the National Button Society. I have e-mailed them and have had no reply. The thirteen stars made me think Military. Civil War. ??????? Can anybody help? Julian Walden
 
The button pictured is a 1949 Air Force Button.
It is on page 84 of Alphaeus H. Alberts Book on American Uniform and Historical buttons.
I included a picture hope this helps you.
