Need help to I.D. this old baseball ring.........

This is a toy ring for the old Nationals baseball team (Washington Senators). I suspect it was made prior to 1956 because they changed their name to the Washington Senators at that time. The ring is made out of metal, possibly copper. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, but they were difficult to take. On both sides of the ring there are crossed baseball bats with a baseball. The front of the ring shows what I think is a capital building with a baseball bat behind the building and coming out on both sides of the building. "Nationals" is engraved below the building. Any help would be much appreciated. Kelley (Texas) :)

Three rings that match yours (note crossed bats on side). According to the site, these are aluminum so yours may be an a ring from an earlier series.

From the link below (halfways down):

The picture shows a view of this 1957 Kellogg's Shredded Wheat Brooklyn Dodgers Baseball Cereal Prize Toy Ring. This adjustible aluminum ring was a part of a (16) ring set of baseball teams that were used as prizes in 1957 boxes of Kellogg's Shredded Wheat cereal. There was one per box wrapped in cellophane. The set had both American and National major league teams. The sides have crossed baseball bats and a ball. The front has the baseball team logo and name. To judge the size the ring measures 5/8'' tall. It is in excellent condition as pictured.

Cool find, Fred! :)

The other puzzle is that the Nationals changed their name to Washington Senators in 1956. All in all, there is a strong possiblility that this is a ring from that 1967 set of ceral box rings. I also tried Google, but had no luck in finding the ring. Thanks for the information. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

...you often find objects with a copper core with all trace of plating corroded away. Possibly the rings shown on that site are plated and not aluminum.

From the shape and design, it sure looks it came from this 1957 set (if the site is correct about the date), or possibly from an earlier set before the team's name changed in 1956.

The more I look at that ring, the more I think it is discolored aluminum...dark like in the photos. Again, thanks for the help, it was much appreciated. Kelley (Texas) :)

This is interesting, a pic of the original cereal box.... the only thing, the resolution makes it hard to see, but the first name in the middle column of team names appears to read, "Washingon Senators" which would be correct for a 1957 promotion, but would not match the ring you found.

I believe the first Washington Senators became the Minnesota Twins and the second Washington Senators became the Texas Rangers.

It's been awhile since a followed baseball, someone correct me i I'm wrong.

Neat find. I found the identical ring on ebay.... http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Cereal-Box-Ring-Nationals-Baseball-Team_W0QQitemZ140326948717QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_SM_Fan_Shop?hash=item20ac234f6d&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
