HOW IS THE TESORO SAND SHARK FOR SALT WATER BEACHES AND HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO OTHER PI'S SUCH AS DETECTOR PRO, WHITES, OR GARRETT. ALSO WHICH WOULD BE A BETTER COIL 8" OR 10" ? Thanks for your help.

I'm sorry I can't help you for I do not own a PI, Yet. I do own the Excal II and am loving it. What I can tell you is that the Tesoro is a great brand and you cannot go wrong, their service support is first rate.

Why not ask which girl to marry? So much depends on you and we've never met.
Do you actually need/want a PI? Where and how are you going to hunt? How easy/hard a machine to learn? How heavy? Salt water or fresh, beach also or only? In land hunting? How much experience have you got already? How much do you want/willing to spend? Batteries cost, Scoops, location composition (rocky or sandy) size of beach and crowd conditions should be considered as well.
So get one like mine and you will be fine. :clapping:

I have spared you all with all the details but I am experienced with the exception of different brand PI's. I will need it for beach hunting only on various Florida and Caribbean type beaches. Yes I do want a PI

I have the Detector Pro Headhunter PI with the 11 inch coil (the white one) and I use it on central Florida beaches. I use it almost every day and I don't hunt on the land too much. What I like is that it is deep and it is light! I use rechargeable Lithium Ion 9 volt batteries. I have 2 pair of batteries and I swap them out after about 4 hours of use. I could go longer on a charge but after 4 hours the batteries each discharge from 8.25 nomimal volts to about 7.8 volts. On the DPHH the batteries are hooked up in series so you are technically running on 18 volts which to me seems more powerful than the brands that run on 8 doubleA's which is 8 times1.5 volts or 12 volts. The DPHH has all the electronics and batteries in the headphones so the swingweight of the shaft is light. The headphones are excellent comfortable and clear. I have dug targets at 19 inches in wet sand and granted it is probably a aluminum pop top but when you find it at that depth it is amazing. I handle the headphones very carefully when I transport the unit and I actually keep them in bubble wrap in a plastic bag when I transport them in a car. The headphone clam shells are pressed to fit with a rubber o-ring and you want to maintain them with silicon grease on the o-ring and protect the circuit board and the batteries. I don't have any experience with other PI machines but i say it again. It is deep and it is light. Also I don't take a scoop on the beach I carry a shovel I got at Harbor Freight for $10. It has a 4 foot fiberglass shaft and a D-handle. You will be digging deep and this is easier than trying to use a scoop. I don't wade because I don't think I could scoop or dig a target under water. The transition from dry to wet sand is very good with the DPHH PI.
