Need help on this one...

I found this pendant today in a parking lot at work.. reason for posting on this forum is it looks to be gold,but on the backside,
.925 is stamped on it.. could this be a gold stamping or is it silver with gold plating?
The stone is pink in color although it looks clear in the photos.. amethyst maybe?
I figured you beach hunters could help me on this.

Stamped .925 I would say it's gold plated over silver. JMO Nice eye find

Hey Felix, .925 is a silver marking, odd enough its plated that is a hand scratcher,either way you snagged a nice pendant, Congrats, hank

I believe it is also silver with gold plating although I don't see any silver showing in the wear areas.
I ran it over my coil on my X-Terra 50 and it ID'd as 36 which is the same as a copper penny.
If it was gold and due to the size, I would have thought it would have read much lower.

Gold can read in anywhere on the scale.

925 is a silver mark, so it could be gold plated, some people can not wear silver.

Take it to a Jeweler and get it tested.

You no how fickle females are about color cordination............they liked the julery design but silver did'nt match their outfit so they had it gold plated over the silver.
