hi folks, i found this in a friends yard . it seems to be brass . ive never seen anything like it . no clue as to how old it is either . has no markings on it either . thanks for any help .

Hmmm...interesting...The spike looks like it was made for dirt or wood maybe, but I cannot figure out what the pivoting part was for???
