has anyone ever used a bh tr 550-d detector.need some feed back on this one! made probably in the 70's:shrug:cannot find any information on this one.its solid red in color.appreciate some feedback thanks.

I started out years ago on the TR500 all metal machine that sold for $60 in the mid 1970's, found lots of great coins with it. The 550 adds discrimination. The 500 actually out performed my $300 White's Goldmaster TR that I got a few years later.

I also loved mine. It had an automatic slow retune that helped keep the threshhold as near to maximum as possible in mineralized ground. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Mr. Gifford at Tesoro (now) had a hand in it's design. Of course the depth was around 3-4", but that was normal for TR's.
