Need help on downloading from the Computer to the CTX

Rick(ND)

Well-known member
I down loaded my CD into my computer and figured out how to build the pattern and tones I wanted and even put it in the file, but cant see how to download it into my CTX. Do I have to hook it up to the Minelab site as I didn't try while on line. I have a copy of the manual I got off the minelab site and don't see anything on how to put it into the CTX.

Thanks
Rick

I have not done it yet myself so don't quote me on this but I remember reading a post that said you have to hook up the CTX via usb and when in the exchange 2 program drag the file you want in your ctx to the ctx folder/bin or whatever you call it.

Etracjoe is right on but I might add that when you unplug the USB cord, the CTX will automatically install the the new files, so don't turn off the CTX until you get the "completed" message.

You have the CTX connected to your USB port, then drag and drop the program you built/modified to the CTX icon at the far left of the screen. Then go to the task bar on your computer and you should see an icon on the right that allows you to safely disconnect your CTX USB connection. After you safely discconnect the CTX just wait. Don't turn off the CTX -- just let it finish -- it takes a little while. Then you should see your new/modified program in the program list and should be able to select and run with it.

I Rick(ND) I pm'd you with a link...

I will try some of the suggestion and never tried dragging the file to the CTX Icon and dump it, so that is probably my problem. I will try it later and see what happens.

Thanks for all the info.

Rick

Once you have a mode/pattern dragged and dropped into the FILE, it can be, exported to/imported from, a place of your choice on your computer hard drive. Once in the computer it can be emailed to others..........Just a little more info on what you can do with things dropped into the FILE icon........HH

Simple way to edit or create a pattern. Run the Exchange2 program. Connect the CTX to your PC/Laptop via the cable, and turn it on. Wait until your PC recognizes the new USB (first timers only), and watch the CTX screen until it says it's connected via USB. Now click on the SAMPLES button on the left of the screen. Pick a pattern. Doesn't matter which one. Edit that pattern to how ever you like. Re-name it something that reflects what kind of pattern it's for (ie Trashy Park etc). Now click the SAVE button. You'll now see it listed in the SAMPLES folder. Now to get it to the CTX just click and hold the button down on the pattern, and drag it to the CTX icon at the top and release. To verify it's there just click on the CTX icon and you'll see the new pattern loaded. One last step. Click on the task-bar, and on the USB hub, and click REMOVE USB etc SAFELY. After the PC says it's OK TO DISCONNECT USB wait a few seconds, then you can take the CTX off the cable. Some people have done this too quickly and have lost the new information before it was finished saving. I'll make a step by step video tonight.

I got it done with no problem at all as soon as I dragged the file to the CTX Icon on the top left. It was so simple to do with the help of everyone.

I got Gonehunting video after I was done which is a great video and should be on a sticky to help others.

Thanks again

Rick
