need help on dating this padlock

Chuck, I believe that the "US" warded lock, which dates from the same period, was made by the E. T. Fraim Lock Co. of Lancaster, PA.

what is a warded padlock ? was wondering if it came from the 1904 wolds fair here in town .. is there a place i can find some info on it and is it worth anything? don
 
Don, "warded" refers to the type of lock mechanism. For more info, see the link below.
Although it may have been introduced about the time of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (world's fair) held in St. Louis in 1904, it is generally not listed as one of the commemorative locks from that expo, since it doesn't have "Fair," "Expo," or "1904" on it.
A good reference is Franklin M. Arnall's book, <EM>The Padlock Collector, Sixth Edition</EM>, which values your lock at $20.
