hi, i found this about 4" down about 1/4 mile from the allegheny river just north of pittsburgh,pa.anybody have a clue? i think its french.any info would really help me out.thanks!
 
I'd take it over the Carnegie in Oakland and have them take a look at it.
Please let us know what you find out.

Have you even gone into Schenely park. There was a Confederate prison camp there durin the Civil War.
 
This looks pretty close to what you found. Roman coin 313-314AD. See if obverse reads: IMP CONSTANTINVS PF AVG reverse: SOLI INVICTO COMITI
 
Yeah its an early Roman coin back when days were movin up and down the Allegheny and Monongahela and was trading with the ancient Canadians. They used to stop by the Mississippi and floated up river to trade with the Indian tribes. Lotsa Roman coins dug up on all those river banks as they'd run their chariots afire alongs them at nights to be cool....

Kind slowed down after Atlantis sank and they didn't make the trips past the Pillows of Hercules anymore's.... :crazy: :rofl:


Actually really wonder how that got to be where you found it.


Somebody's coin collection was robbed...
