These were found by a friend at a Civil War camp. The larger one is about 3/8 inch, best as I remember , and the other is maybe 1/4 inch. Can someone please ID them.
Thanks
Guy

Marine button could be one piece or two piece. That will define age, along with backmark if present. Cadet or "ball" button is a prewar button worn by Military cadets, Dragoons or Cavalry. The Zouaves were a group that wore a arabic looking outfit with the most popular being the Tiger Zouaves from Louisiana. You can do a google search using Zouave and find out more. I have found a few and have one of the larger ones which retains most of it's silver gilt.

I found a number of large ball buttons from the Winter of 1861-62 camp of Wheat's Louisiana Tigers in Centreville, Virginia that is now covered by townhouses. Also dug some nice Pelican buttons from that camp. Also dug a number of large ball buttons from the Tigers camp in Oakton Virginia that is now houses, and I dug a nice Texas cuff button from that camp.
