Need help in choosing a detector

New member
I use to have a Whites back in the mid 70s but haven't been out using a detector since the mid 80s, my how technology has changed since then.
Well I've got the bug and some time to start the hobby up again.
I live in Vermont and will be hunting on lawns, parks, etc. for coins, jewelry or ???... I'll also be hunting for old relics at old homesteads back in the woods with old stone foundations and over grown sites that have been reclaimed back to forests.

I'm looking for a machine that I can use in either situation, be it lawn or woods.
I'm willing to spend 700.00 -- 800.00 but less is just fine for me :beers:
I don't have any brand in mind, I'm opened to all suggestion and advice, I'd like to keep it at one machine that is user friendly, and if I need different coils then I'm willing to buy extra coils.
The ground is thawing and I'm ready to get out and enjoy the coming months.
Thanks for any and all advice.
Bud

I am surprised that Nancy or Monte hasn't been on here to give you some help.I am sure that you will be given a lot of opinions on what to get.

D, I would recommend White's M6. It's a great machine. It's a "turn on and go" machine (very easy to learn and use), but it's a great coinshooter and jewelry machine, as well as decent with relics. It's about $600.00 Check out Kellyco, they've got great deals on them. I would recommend getting a 6x10 eclipse shooter coil also. It's far better for trashy areas, while having decent depth. It's about 180.00, but it's a great coil. Read various reviews for the M6, as well as for the 6x10 eclipse coil. I think you'll find that most people arevery happy with them.Good luck and HH with whatever machine you go with.

Garrett ATpro. I love mine. Get the small coil, the headphone adapter and some quality headphones. All in your price range and a great, fun, easy to use detector that gets great depth. Good luck with whatever you get, Joe.
