I have found a number of these items at old house sites but don't know what they are. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you didn't give the size of them , but could they possibly be part of a hand cranked well pump . running inside a old "pump log" ?? for raising water .

Thanks Doc, I thought of that too. The round part is1 1/2" as shown in the picture. I have others that are 2 1/2". If they were used for that purpose didn't they once have rubber around the outside edge of the round part ? Also were they connected to one another by chains ?

hmmm Looks like a pacifier for Iron Man. Actually I dont know what they are but did find one once. Obviously something hooks to each end.

Howdy Blink ;

its been a good many years since i have seen one of them old pumps . but yes as i recall there was rubber around them disks . and as i recall the rubber was very deteriorated and brittle . the connecting chains were the same as those links you have without the "cups" . the sprocket they ran over had spokes with a "V" on the end that grabbed the chain . every once in a while i still see one of them old sprockets laying around . kind of a ornate thing .

I did a search for "chain pump" and darned if they still sell them cups , or they call em buckets . "Leamanns " still sells a complete pump . today their using pvc pipe instead of pump logs .
