Need Help! How good is the Fisher 1270 for Relics?

I am hoping to do a little relic hunting soon, so I traded one of my coin detectors for a new 1270. It seems to have good depth, but even in discriminate mode, has a lot of ground chatter. Has anyone used one of these to relic hunt, and if so, how do you like it? Would a Tesoro Tejon or Vaquero be more stable in small iron without sacrificing a lot of depth? Thanks!

I have never used a 1270 but the Tejon is great at eliminating small Iron while getting the good targets deeeeeeep. :surprised:

I have never tried the 1270, but I do have a Vaquero that I like to hunt around old homesite with and it does very well as far as I'm concerned when hunting around alot of small iron. Now large iron I do dig up, but have found some interesting things.
It is very quiet when hunting trashy (iron) infested sites and doesn't drive me crazy with alot of chatter.
However, I have read good things about the 1270 as a very good relic machine so don't give up on it too soon.

I used a 1270 for years. They are quite noisey in mineralized ground and even worse around scattered iron. The depth is VERY impressive. I often had trouble useing it on wet ground. It just seemed to go nuts. I've found a lot of good relics with the 1270. I recently traded it in on a Minelab Xterra 70. Just as deep with all the chattering gone and more fun to use.
