Need help GB'ing Musketeer Advantage

Hey guys,

I need a bit of help GB'ing the Musky... not sure if I'm doing it quite right, it's rather hard to GB a machine with no threshold... Most of my sites are low mineralized and I do get great depth running in fixed or having the knob clicked just off of fixed but I'm unsure if it's balanced. I've followed the tips and manual but don't seem to have the hang of it. Anyone got some pointers?? Thanks!

If you go to the minelab site and look ai archives scroll all the way down the is a article on how to do it very simple to follow Place sensitivity all the wayup,, ground enable on, start at slowly increase the gb. when you begin to hear it stop or backoff so it is silent.

Dude, put it in all metal turn it up until you are at the breaking piontbob the coil up and down till it is silent then switch into disq

Hi Jason,

Jason, The Advantage is not as finicky as other detectors when it comes to ground balancing. In low mineralization the fixed position works great and most times is all you need. In more mineralized ground or on the beach ground balancing will get better depth. Here's how I always ground balanced mine in bad ground. While holding your coil in the air turn your sensitivity up just to where the detector starts to become unstable (snap, crackle, pop) then back it down until it's stable again. Now turn ground balance knob fully clockwise and start bobbing the coil from about 12 inches to the ground. You will most likely get a response (beep) as the coil nears the ground. Continue bobbing the coil while slowly turning the GB knob counterclockwise just until it is silent or you get no response (beep). Now depending on your ground you can leave it there or you can slowly turn it slightly clockwise again just until it starts to react to the ground again, just a slight response but not enough to beep again. Some users continue to go past where it goes silent while turning the GB knob counterclockwise until it just barely starts to react to the ground again. I haven't seen much difference between the two in my ground.
