Need help for setting a detector

I have a Cutless II u Max & I'm haveing trouble with the settings. I use disc.on # 3 sometimes # 4 & sen on # 8. I have trouble getting settings that will elemate pull tabs.I hunt masely parks & school yards.

Ah,,,,, me thinks this is really a "compare metal detector site" this forum needs to go deeper, r u a detectorist ?????
 
If you want to eliminate pull tabs, your disc is set way too low. Set your disc halfway between 7 and 8. If you're still getting the occasional pulltab, hike it up a tad to 8.

The post might have come from someone pulling our leg, or from someone who bought or inherited a detector without an owner's manual. Or in true guy tradition, from someone who just doesn't read owner's manuals. You never can tell, but I think it doesn't take much effort on our part just in case it came from someone who really needs advice.

Just take your most pesky pulltab and wave it over the coil while turning the disc. knob clockwise. When it starts breaking up leave the disc. control set there. This should help eliminate the majority of them. But remember......when you eliminate pull tabs you also eliminate most of your chances for a nice gold ring <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D"> .
