Need help finding ring for co worker...

fwcrawford

Well-known member
A co-worker asked me if I could possibly find a ring that was lost about 3 weeks ago in a yard.
Here's the catch.. it is made from tungsten.I have heard of this type of metal, but I have never found any and I was wondering where it falls on the discrimination scale.
Can it be found with any discrimination or do you have to use all-metal?
I plan on using a non VID machine for this hunt (Vaquero) and was wondering what mode to use and what if any disc.
Thanks in advance,
Felix

Sounds like it's a mans ring and bigger in size being made from T....Should give a loud hit...

If the ring has only been lost for three weeks it will still be on the surface of the ground. Run in all metal mode, use a fairly fast sweep speed and check anything that gives a strong, fast on/fast off response. The ring will give a strong signal, deeper and smaller stuff will give a weaker signal. I've found quite a few lost rings for people with the Goldtrax and Golden

Well, I took off after work this afternoon to look for the ring.
I went to the guys house and he told me his hands were wet and while he was shaking them to dry them off, the ring slipped off and disappeared into the yard somewhere.
He said he looked for it,but failed to locate it.
I took a look at the area wondering how something could not be found pretty easily due to the short grass and the size of the ring.
I took out my Vaquero, adjusted the disc. to minimum and off I went searching.
I found two pulltabs and the third signal turned out to be the ring... It was actually pressed into the ground possibly by a car tire, and was lying flat.
It took all of 10 minutes including setting of the machine and ground balancing.
It was a huge ring and very heavy.. needless to say the owner was very happy to recover it.
This is my third attempt at finding a lost ring and the other two attempts were fruitless and I could not locate either one.. I think too much time had passed by and they could have been picked up and carried off.
Thanks to the replies and recommendations on making this recovery everyone!!
After that I went to a local swimming lake and searched around with the Vaquero with the small coil for about an hour and a half and found quite a bit of clad.
Not a bad after work hunt and it was nice to be able to get that ring back to its owner.
Thanks again,
Felix

Congrats on that return .Good deed .
