Can someone suggest a way to get the blue/green crust off of indian cents? Olive oil has worked OK for the dirt but not the blue.
Other cleaning questions: Is there any difference between extra virgin and regular olive oil? How do you get the red out of old nickels?
Sure could use a seminar on cleaning and preservation. Thanks.

if you take off the patina (bluegreen color) the result will be a red pitted surface.I ruined one with just a toothbrush and water..Others will give better tips..charlie

I have posted before that i use a non scratch oven/sink type cleaner.Someone else suggested hand cleaner like mechanics use.
