Need feedback on coils:help:

Need to know what is the average depth on the 18.75 khz d.d. coil and the 7.2 khz 10.5 d.d. coil?If you had to make a choice which one would you chose?Appreciate your feedback:thumbup:cjm

I have the HF 5x10 DD coil. If you want to try it I can ship it out to you.

Just PM me your info. Just ship it back when done.

i have both coils, the 10.5DD 7.5khz goes way deeper.
my 5x10 that came with the gold pack is in brand new condition, the 10.5DD i bought extra does not look like new anymore! , but still works perfectly.:minelab:

I think he is asking about both the 10.5 inch coils.

For me, coil selection is generally based on three equally important things; the soil conditions (minerals present), trash density, and targets sought.
Depending on whether the minerals most prevalent are magnetic or conductive will play a part in the frequency I'll choose, and the levels of minerals present will also be a factor in the coil configuration I select.
Trash density will often be a big consideration when deciding coil size and configuration.
Targets sought has a bearing on my choice too. Most often, if I'm looking for high conductors I'll prefer a lower frequency to emphasize the contrast between them and lower conductors.

Regardless, audio rules. It doesn't matter which coil (size/configuration) or frequency I have on, if a signal sounds promising I'll dig it.

There are at least two considerations when I'm choosing a specific DD coil. First......what type of targets am I hunting for? I know that higher freqs provide a more defined target response on low conductive targets and lower freqs provide a more defined target response on higher conductive targets. Second.......considering both of the DD coils you asked about are basically the same "length", and knowing that the width of the DD coil is a major factor in a coil's depth field capability, I'd suggest the 10.5 kHz will hunt deeper than the 18.75 kHz elliptical. Although my soil doesn't warrant the use of a DD coil and I typically hunt for old coins at old sites, my go-to coils are either a LF or MF coil. But on the rare occasion when I've used the HF elliptical coil, I've not been impressed with the depth. JMHO HH Randy
