Need feedback from a Ace 350 user.

I have a Ace 350 I got in a pawn shop. Thought it was defective so sent it to Garrett. They said it was the coil and said they replaced it.I was giving one way signals and not giving repeatable ones. I got a sniper coil and it seamed to do better. the coil I have is not the one that comes stock. it is a 6.5x9 not the 8.5x11. any way my question is when searching in coins mode When I do get a repeating signal that shows 4 to 6 " and get a bell tome I dig and it is a nail or aluminum foil. My pro pointer detects it but if I run the object across my coil NOTHING. I re scan the hole and it doesn't detect anything. For such a simple machine this has given me a lot of grief. I am to the point to sell both my Ace 350 and my Whites Coinmaster and buy me a ATpro.

There's something referred to as the "Halo Effect" which makes things in the ground behave differently to a metal detector than in the air. I've had targets that read in the coin area, only to be something iron completely rusted away in the sandy soil. The machine can only give you an idea of the target. How may hours do you have on it?

I have the 350 and it has been my work horse in the field, as stated before the halo effect does play a part in what its doing but on targets like iron it will jump back and forth from coin to iron, hope that helps, Hank

That is what mine does goes from coin to iron. Most of the coins I have found are only 1 Maybe 2 " when it says 4 to 6 " I don't even bother because so far it is ether small wire, Nails or foil. I have had the Ace for about 7 mounts and take it out every other trip and spend from 2 to 3 hrs each time. I have a Whites Coinmaster Pro also. So far I prefer the Whites hands down. But do want to get a AT Pro lol Also I am going to get the stock coil and put on it. if that doesn't do any better it's off to e-Bay with both the Whites and the Ace 350 and sell them and get the AT Pro.

Yep, rusty iron will usually bounce low/high.. The iron is low conductivity, but the rust is highly
conductive and is what hits high.
Other trash that doesn't have rust can be trickier to ID.. Sometimes you just gotta dig it, or take
a chance of missing something good.
Most coins will ID very stable over and over again.
