Need coil advice

Cactus Jack

New member
Hello I just have the stock coil that came with my MXT i live in south east Missouri i am wanting to buy a second coil need advice for what would be best for coin and relic hunting in my area.

Cactus Jack, I live in north east Oklahoma and I got a friend that lives in north Arkansas I prefer the 6X10 DD coil it works great in my area, Jim swears buy the 6X10 DD also he says it works great for him in Arkansas. I think it's a good around coil for coin & jewelry & gold prospecting. I've also use the coil in California and Arizona with no problems :whites::thumbup:

Cactus, You can add my vote to the other fellows too! The 6X10 is top-notch! I'm from New Jersey and all the gold here has already been refined, but just the same its a great hunting coil.

Hey I am with the other guys in that the 6x10 would be the one to get, but save your money because you are going to need an even smaller one, like one the Excelerator coils in the 4.5x7 DD or 6 inch DD sizes, or the Whites 4x6 DD. Good luck and happy hunting. Dennis in Idaho

Thanx fellows I can see the 6X10 DD is the one everyone recommends I will place that first on my list and then the 4x6 DD second, I am new at this my Brother bought the MXT last year he is from Wyoming and used it for Gold Nugget Detecting. He bought a Minelab SD 2200 v2 Detector last month and sold me the MXT a Bullseye ll pinpointer and some digging tools I am excited to get hunting I have read that the exployer Hernando DeSoto came through my area several hundred years ago and they camped for some time at an old indian village a few miles north of me. i plan to look for artifacts his men may have lost or left behind or traded. there were also a few civil war skirmishes documented in this area that i plan to search about also. but for now me and a buddy have been hiding different coins and objects in our back yards and we have been taking turns going to each others yards trying to detect them to get to know the detector and how to use it and that has been fun just by itself and we have had some great BBQs in the process.

Before you buy the 4x6 coil I recommend you look at the small Excelerator coils. My wife and I both used the 4x6 but we felt we wanted something that would do the same thing but have a bigger foot print and be able to cover more ground, so she got the 4.5x7 coil and I am now using the 6" coil. Excelerator also has a 5" coil and a lot of folks like it. Just a thought. HH Dennis in Idaho
