Found in central NJ, one mile from Rev. War battle site. Was fired, has rifling grooves. Measures 1/2 inch Dia., 7/8 inch long, back end is flat.
 
I thinl it's a modern bullet. Here is a picture I just found at a Forensics Website Looks like your bullet type.

No Civil War bullet had cannelures. Hope this helps.
