Need battery door cover for Original Sovereign or XS.

Prospector

New member
I have an original Sovereign that the battery door keeps coming open. Do I need a new door, or is there a fix for this?

Prospector that would be a hard part to replace 1981 was when that came out unless you know someone with a unit that is just for parts , when something comes lose on my detectors sometimes 2 part velcro sticky back works great just as temp. fix cant hurt to try it and it,s cheap i got a box 10 for 2.99 Good luck Jim

One fix I have tried and seen other do it too is put a small piece of stick on thin foam or even the 2 way tape (Just don't take the tape protector off the side that will touch the battery)on the inside of the door as it will hold the battery tighter along with the door and will be a slight pressure on the door so it will hold tight. Many of the ones I have seen come into the shop have this done to them and notice more that use the alkaline battery adapter have the biggest problem with the battery door coming open as they are not as thick as the factory rechargeable pack. I feel if you can get the battery to hold tight against the door then the door will not come open.
The options with the Velcro also is a good idea if you want to try.

I noticed a couple of places on the door that looks like two strips of something may have been there. Was there some foam strips on the door when it came from the factory?
