I live in the Houston area and only hunt on salt water beaches. With the recent hurricane ( IKE ), i have not been to the beach for the last few weeks. I'm itching to go but am wandering if the timing is not right . In light of what has happened with folks loosing so much and the toll it has taken on so many, do you all feel it might possibly be an integrity issue and maybe give this hobby a bad rap.I really feel for those folks that have endured so much trying to put their lives together. I myself have had property damage and have taken a hit as well.My wife said, not a good idea.
Any feedback would be very much appreciated. I don't want to offend anyone , I just enjoy this hobby.
Thanks and HAPPY HUNTING.

Hello tripplesss
I would go for for it myself,It's been a few weeks now,How long are you suppose to wait?1 month ? 2 months,A year?.I've only been in the hobby for a few months now & really enjoy it..95% of people that see you on the beach with you're metal detector are Thinking to themselves("I Wounder if He's found anything")..If I were you,I'd be out there Tommorrow. You can't make everybody happy,I'm sure thier are other views and that is ok,These are my thoughts on the matter,You have a great day..............pat

One more thing
If you go out there and can relax & enjoy you're self then thats great,But if you're getting alot of bad Vibes & feeling uncomfortable,Then go home and try another day

hi sss, i feel bad for ya'll, taking a hard hit like that. but, they say the best time to hit the beach is after a good storm. i'm not a beach hunter myself, but i believe it. yeah, knowing me, i'd have been out there the morning after swingin' away! hh,

Well Triple-SSS, I too am in the Houston area but I think it's a bit too early to hunt
in the Galveston area as yet. They're still finding dead bodies washing up (over 400
still missing) and there are still massive debris fields. I think it's best to give it
another month or two yet to get back in better order. Plus, everyone there is still
very much on edge, including police and beach patrols. Remember that just three
weeks ago there was 6 feet of ocean in Galveston streets and the infrastructure is
still in disarray. I don't think you'll lose much by waiting awhile yet in order to be
able to search in a more relaxed environment later. But good luck when you do!
I'll be waiting too and my club members say their mostly doing the same for now.
