The button is 19th century Devonshire Regiment. The map I used to find it shows it to be
inside Confederate lines during a minor battle in 1864. My guess is that it once was owned
by an immigrant who enlisted in the cause.
I included a picture I took of the gravestone of William Henry Cory, buried about 20 miles away
from where I found the button. Talk about an interesting life, too bad Cory didn't publish his life's story.
May they both rest in peace.
I found this "round corner frame buckle" in swamp where I found the pictured button.
Any idea if the buckle is War of Northern Aggression era or not?

Thanks
