need advise on how to hunt a wagon train start point field

I found a site in a local park that was the gathering point for settlers heading north in the early 1800's, its about 2 acres square and mostly short grass...I did some detecting around a couple of really old trees in the area..Right at the base of 1 tree I found pieces of broken glass , a strange looking copper ring about 8 inch's in diameter and broken pieces of blue pottery..These were all at 9 inches in the same hole...Theres not much trash in the field, should I hunt it in relic or coin mode?

Relic would be good. It will get you anything thats not ferrous. Thats what i would hunt it with. I would also look for high ground cause that would be a place that would have stayed dry in bad weather. Those old wagons didnt handle muddy or soft ground very well. Also mud and water wasnt good on hooves. Well thats my logic but im sure others have ideas and will give you more advise.

Run in all metal.....the screen is totally white.......or just a few numbers up and over from each end...... seeing how the field you say has very low level of trash. Dig everything.

Watch your gain......use manual.....and keep it just under the break away point of going spastic.

Make sure you do a noise cancel at first and do it every half hour or so.

Get yourself a few property line flags and set them up in a grid so you know where you last hunted. I so often see people just walking around helter skelter detecting and then hitting the same area again and again. You need to have a system to completely cover a larger area in order to keep track of where you were.

Good luck and have fun.
