Need Advice

I have found some info regarding the locations of some CW campsites, and would like some advice on how best to search the area to pinpoint the exact location of the camps. What I have is info saying "we marched to (here) and camped..." I know where the location is but once there, how do I narrow down my search area?
Thanks for any help.
Michael
PS- This site is supposed to be along a river at at bridge/crossing, and my understanding is that it is currently farmland/woods at the present time...

Ask David Keith (Moderator of this Forum) to send you a copy of David Poche's Book...."Finding Civil War Campsites in Rural Areas". It's the best on the subject, and is not expensive at all.

Good Luck,

Kim

Common sense ( I am told I have little ) will tell you where to look also. Flat places for camps easy access get water and above the wet places are sites to start looking. But when you get the book SoArk is talking about it will all come together. There is a wealth of info in that book. Distances that the soldiers will or could walk in a day etc...d2
