NEED ADVICE Regarding COATING the BOTTOM of my COIL:

Hi Guys, I know several of you use some kind of Protective COATING on the bottom of your coils instead of a coil cover!! MANY THANKS for taking the time!! HH, Les Robinson

Les Ive used the spray on truck bedliner and it works really well. I tried the epoxy coatings a year or so ago but they chip when you hit clam shells and such so Ive tried this bedliner stuff and works great, no chipping at all.

Neil

If you use it, make sure and do a quick rub down with a scour pad or similiar to finely scratch any smooth surfaces and also give a good rubdown with rubbing alcohol to remove any type of oils that may be on the coil. surface prep is key to a good application.

Les, opinions vary. I have done it before, but I'll not do it again. I wear through the material too fast and have to re-coat too often to be practical. I would NOT recommend it. I simply wash out the coil cover after each hunt and sometimes during a hunt, IF I feel like the performance is impaired. When I wear through a coil cover, I replace it. Of course Max and Mike will surely disagree, but that is OK, been there done that!

That is exactly what I do with my Excals and GT:thumbup:

Hi GUYS, Because of several Negative Replys, I'm going to think it through before I make a move!! THANKS AGAIN, Les

Not a bit Les. I put a few spray coats on mine(wait about an hour or so between each coat) and it comes out strong and super thin. Plenty enough to protect the coil and yet thin enough to still use your coil cover if you like.

Its about $7 a can, try a can on something else and see how you like it, see how it covers and so forth. Its really great stuff. for instance try it on one of your scoops, just do a small portion of it and see how it holds up. It hasnt chipped on me yet like the epoxy did and I get the benefit of never haveing to remove the cover and cleaning that out again.
