Need Advice (Opinion) V3i or Etrac ?

OK every one

I'm going to by a new unit some time in March but need some input to the V3i and or the Etrac. I don't mind spending the time to learn either machine as I like any new challenge and welcome it. So shoot me your opinions on both machines if you have used either of them. Advantages and disadvantages of both would be great. Also any input on a sun-ray probe vs a pro pointer would be helpful.

Thanx,
Jeff

Jeff, I have a V3i you can use for a tryout. But you can't borrow my propointer.

Have I told you how much I love my SunRay Pinpointer? At least you won't loose that one. We've had friends that have left their other pinpointers, here and there and one had to replace a lost one. Go with the SunRay....JMHO. HH, Nancy

A lot is going to depend on what you are primarily hunting for Jeff.

I hunt with the V3i for the most part and I owned an E-Trac but opted to use the SE Pro instead, mainly because I have used the Explore units for a lot of years and that is what I know best. Many users say the E-Trac is the way to go if you are not already an Explorer user.

If you are hunting for deep silver and copper, the Minelabs don't get any deeper but they have a better audio target recognition on the high conductors. For me the ET and SE are single use detectors and that is what I grab for deep silver/copper hunting. For all other hunting, I grab the V3i which is a true all purpose detector from gold nuggets, relics and jewelry hunting on up.

Each has their good and bad points, far too many to itemize, you will figure them out during your research and make your decision based on what you want in a detector.

The pinpointer is a personal preference but I have the Sunray on each of my detectors and I would be lost without them.

Thanks for all of the input. Its very helpful.

What I have really enjoyed so far is coin shooting. I figure the rings and other relics that I pull out are just an added bonus. I seen nothing but rave reviews on the Etrac on it's ability to pull out deep silver but I have also seen some pretty impressive you tube videos on the V3i and its multiple screens and graphics for coin shooting.
I have a couple of months left before I make the decision so I guess it back to you tube and google searching.
I really have no idea at this time to which direction I with go.
