Need advice on What Machine fits profile

I have a Tesoro Cibola and generally like the machine, but I mostly hunt relics and occasionally hunt coins. The only thing I'm finding I don't like is the fact that it runs in a silent mode. My hunting buddy has a Minelab X-terra 70 that he can adjust the tone level so that he has sound going the whole time. Personally, I like that better as it seems that going for a while without a sound in the machine makes you wonder if its still working properly and causes me to have to wave my wedding ring in front of the coil.

So, what would someone recommend for hunting relics that will go reasonably deep (like 10" on a 3-ring minnie, over 12" on a buckle) and has enough difference in tones to be able tell iron from other goodies as well as the ability to run with sound going (low hum or something comparable would be good). Some discrimination would be good, but not real necessary for me as it seems to sacrifice depth and as long as the sounds on different metals were distinguishable, I would prefer my brain to tell me what it should be over some misguided microprocessor. So, does this machine exist?

If you haven't already, check out the f75 and t2 forms going back for a couple of months or so. I believe you will find that both of these units at least will fit your "what machine fits profile" quite nicely. I have the f75 and while I mainly coin and jewelry hunt, I believe the f75 would fill your requirements very nicely. Plus, it is fast, light weight, comfortable and gets terrific battery life. My 2 cents worth anyway. HH jim tn

It is working just the way you told it to. If it is quiet, its because you told it to be.

There are two types of threshold tones, that hum that you said your friends machine has. One is just a tone that rides just about the ground signal and amplifies any and all signals. The other does the same but also goes silent over rejected targets. All done with that misguided microprocesser that works just the way you tell it to. Your Cibola has a hum in all metal mode that does what the first method does.

Really in the end, you have to get comfortable enough to trust what the machine is telling you. If you are looking for another machine I would suggest one with tone id. That way you can run it wide open and still discriminate by ear.

Put a coin inside the front of one of your shoes ( under the foot ) and anytime you want to know if your tector is working just pass the coil over the toe of your shoe.

If you like the X-70 your buddy is using then get that its light and has a good id tone. It all comes down to is this = If you like what brand your using the more fun your going to have hunting.
