Need advice on water scoop

Hey folks,

I would appreciate some advice on what scoop to get. I want to be hunting both sandy and muddy bottoms, long handled scoop, with the ability to use my foot for power if needed. Stainless or Aluminum? Suggestions on where to get them would help. Does anyone on here sell them?

Thanks to all! You can also email me at dennisjwynne@yahoo.com if you have one for sale.

For the type of hunting you described I would recommend the Sun-Spot stealth. It is stainless and works very well in these red clay and mud bottoms here in TN. North Georgia Relics sells the Sun-Spot scoops and Don Dotson is a good man to deal with or you can go to their web-site and buy direct. Other sponsers may carry this scoop but I'm not sure. The RTG aluminum with a stainless lip will also be a good choice. Good luck and HH :minelab:

Checkout banner above, "Reilly's Treasures". Talk to Joe! I got the breakaway for traveling. You have options.

RTG 6" SS Monster scoop.

KT you have been around for a while, Guessing your in your sixtys or close..is weight a factor? And you will be in the water, hunting Muddy Bottom Lakes? Neck Deep? Or Beach's?

LOL 58 years, meaner than that bobcat.....LOL I will be in water, muddy bottom lakes primarily, probably some rocks, some beaches. waist deep this year, will be buying excalibur I suspect within the next few months. Have detected 37 years, but not much in water. Weight is not a factor at this point, but might be so in the future.....I am still fairly strong armed, been a firefighter most of my life, worked out, etc.....

I travel nowdays as an insurance adjuster, chasin hurricanes and other disasters. So there will be some beaches as well......take down might be nice, IF they can stand up to rocks as well (i.e. hard prying) without breaking.

Thanks all for continuing input.

I saw another post of a homemade scoop by Stang. I particularly like the pointed end. Makes sense for rocky areas......

Ultimately I will buy a couple. one takedown, one not.

Thanks for responses!

Based on what you said above. You should look at the "@#$%& Diamond Head" scoop from @#$%&^ enterprises. I have the extented fiberglass handle and have a bolt on grab handle on it. It'll last forever. Will work in sand ,mud ,shells, and rock ! If you're going to be in rock , either buy a stainless scoop , or aluminum with a stainless lip. RTG can add a lip and grab handle to any of their big scoops for about $15-$20 more. Good luck !
