Need advice from people who have disassembled their NIMH battery packs and put them back together.

OK so I broke the tabs on my NIMH battery pack for my Sovereign GT. So I took the sliding piece with the tabs from the alkaline pack to be put on the NIMH pack. I noticed that on the inside of the NIMH pack there was some type of silicone that acted as an adhesive to keep the pack closed. My question is this. What type of a silicone or adhesive should I use to replace the silicone that I removed when I first opened up the NIMH pack. I do have some GE silicone caulking around the house. Would that work?

Thank so much in advance.

Why would you want to put more glue on it after removing the old glue? I wouldn't use any glue or anything when you put the new lid on the nimh pack. It's only meant to keep people from opening it. The hard part is getting the lid off it. You have to use a knife or something and work at slicing away the glue to free the lid. Once done it will still slide on and lock in place like the regular battery holder does.
