need advice for gold in quartz

hi all. ive not been here long, but i have a chance to hunt near an old gold mine in the next few weeks. most of the gold here was found in veins of the white milky quartz rock which there are tons of it around this mile wide area. no one has ever hunted this area, because access to it has been blocked off for 20 years ...and im the probable first who ever brought my detector onto the site. now comes the fun part. ... will my new detector find gold veins in quartz???? im wondering... and i might find a small nuugget or two.. any help?

Hi 559, You didn,t say what detector you were using, but since you posted here it might be a Bounty Hunter. Yes it will find gold in quarts IF the gold is big enough. To find small gold and gold in quarts you need a GOLD DETECTOR with higher KHz. If you find gold with your detector, it might pay you to get a Gold BUG PRO, or MXT. Good Luck out there and be careful, if no one has been there for 20 years you don,t know what is out there. I sure wish i could go to, i love to prospect. Flintstone
