need advice finding first nugget

hey forum,

does anyone detect for gold in shasta county, I haven't had any luck looking to find first nugget. i use the goldbug2 , and have some places to go, but no luck. I have a few hydraulic mines on private prop, to detect, but haven't found anything yet. does anyone have experience detecting hydro sites.

Hydraulic mining sites can be very productive. Look at the way the water flowed, that is the key to finding nuggets. One problem is the overburden, the gold will be on bed rock or other impervious layer of material. I take a rake to the sites I prospect and use it remove material then detect, remove the nest layer and so on.. I prospect in the areas where the material is not that deep over areas I believe ther may be gold.
