I just got my pinpointer today.
For all of you on an extreme budget this is a good deal.
I was skeptical at first,
but it turns out to be an ok device.
Its $15.00 from www.harborfrieght.com and comes with battery
and a carrying case you can clip to your belt. Makes a high pitched queal when
target is located in hole.

thank you for the info. i just may buy one today and try it out. do you think the store site has it or is it just an online item?

You'll have to buy it online. But it takes anywhere from 7-10 days.
They have something called SMART mail. Great for them but a pain
for us. The load up pallets until they get enough to ship out. They
get a discount doing it this way. Its worth it though. Nice little
pinpoiner in my opinion. If I had the money I'd get the SunRay or
whatever its called butthats way out of my price range.

Good deal, Robert, thanks! I placed an order just now. Like all detectorists I've also been frustrated by the elusive target that always sounds off no matter how big you make your hole yet whatever set the detector off still eludes. I've left many unknowns in the ground because the magic properties of unfound objects to stay hidden. Now I'll have a fighting chance without making a bid dent in my pocket. The only minor drawback is that shipping is $7.00. Let's hope it's everything it's supposed to be and lasts more than a few uses.

Maybe someone here who has one of those expensivo ones will purchase this item for a head-to-head comparison.

I need something that squeals like a stuck pig....Very hard to hear my Teknetics over the noise and with my headphones on.....I rely mainly on the LED I added to the unit to tell me when it finds something...Think I will order one of these next month...
Right now I am strapped for cash, and the car just blew out a front left strut spring...Looking at about an $700 repair bill with t he towing and all....Car is not drivable...Broken spring rubbing on the tire, and tire rubbing on the fender well....It also took out the sway bar arm when it went....So much for my Stimulus Check...

I'm curious, BH-LS, what model Tek are you talking about?

i have been useing mine all day and i hit some targets i would have other wise missed. and for 15 bucks? cant beat that.

I mean the cheapo green pin pointer that you have to tape the battery cover on, cannot hear or feel....You know the one, and So does Teknetics...After I modified mine, it is not bad, but still I could use something better...Only thing it has going for it is the fact that it is a no motion detector, and if adjusted right (only one pot on the electronics board you can turn)...It will detect up to 1 1/2" from the tip...I added a larger 6V buzzer, and an RED LED...Burns batteries a little faster, but I can at least now feel when it is buzzing or see it if in the dark....
