fairly new to this have my etrac about three months have old home stead around dated about 1800 cant seem to find anything but rusted iron .
tried ttf but no luck also bought a 6inch coil still no luck any suggestions thank you still trying

I hate to state the obvious but maybe there is nothing there. Has it ever been detected before? An 1800s homesite would be a temptation for any MDer. I know I have cleaned out a site or two in 40 years of detecting.

i think its been hit also tried one that i dont think was hit not sure thou i have a couple of others that briefly hit still iorn tried in relic mode with ttf thanks for the help i think i need all i can get

Remember...go slow. Its very tempting to tear through a new site to get as many finds as you can but that usually leads to less finds. You can always go back. Try gridding with a string and overlapping your swings. Slow and steady nevr lost the race...good luck

does anybody have this problem i will get a good hit a tone then go back to try to find it and cant pick it up again thank you for the help

Bandit, I'm newer to the etrac than you and yes sveral times I've hit a good signal and then it just disappears so I will for sure watch this post for advice. On the hunted out subject have you buried some coins of your own to see how your settings are reacting?

yes ive the test garden and have mixed results to say the least . have tried many diffrent settings i cant hardly believe all of these old homesteads can be completely hunted out false signals at these sites our frequent dig most of them to come up with empty hole thanks for the help very appreciated.

you might be swinging too fast if you are falsing. also when you get one of these iffy signals switch over to quick mask and see what it is saying.

Falsing can come in a few forms. Multiple targets in a hole such as a coin spill, target masking from iron or other rusty junk, rusty nails, especially bent rusty nails will ring up good. If swing and get a good number and then cant find it again, its likely you swung too fast or the target is being masked or the target is on the fringe of detection. It happens a lot. When you do get a good hit, surround the target and try to get good numbers , I check All targets at 90 degrees just in case. Hope this helps.

Try public park and find lot of clad coins plus some bonus wheat or silver coins then you will know with your machine! Some old house have more coins than other! One time look good old house and I don't find any coin!

Thanks i have several parks close by plus a soccer field i know i cant dig but maybe things laying toward surface . cant thank everybody for all the help you guys are great . the bandit
