I water hunt a Pulse Induction with Threshold and find it invaluable. Got a some cabin fever right now and was wondering what B & Digs (mud hunting) might have the background threshold ? And if it helps you.

All 3 of my Pulse machines come with the threshold ie TDI Pro,original No13 Crossbow and Mirage Pulse, the threshold come into its own when used with a decent set of full cup headphones so that you can hear the very deep whisper threshold change, those are the signals that i am after on deep pasture sites that i mainly hunt.......Also use the threshold as the last form of indication of a potential good target when using a a VLF machine as well if they are fitted that is.and especially hen using detectors like my Nexus MP and SE.

For me the least reliable indicator is looking at screens,i much prefer audio on all my detector and the very last resort on ultimate depth is the threshold, this is why i feel its important to have a decent set of full cup headphones so that it cuts the back ground noise out and this will allow the very deep whisper threshold signals that you will miss if you use either a set of cheap headphones or non at all......of course as usual this is how i detecting and other may do it differently.

Some detectors, like the White's Classic series and M6, or virtually all Tesoro models, have a silent-search operation in the Discriminate mode. You can use some of those models in a Threshold-based All Metal mode.

The models in my current detector line-up that allow me to hunt with a Threshold audio in a motion-based Discriminate mode include my White's XLT and team of MX-7's. There are times when I do like to have the Threshold background when hunting in a Discriminate mode, and I like the MX-7, or the MX Sport, because they provide that option on-the-fly.
