Need a bit of help........

Hope that the info is accurate as I plan to purchase based on the responses. I need to know if the Fisher 6.5" Eliptical coil will work on the G2? I'm told it is a bit deeper than the 5" round and covers a bit more ground. Has anyone used this coil on their G2........ how did it perform? Thanks for your replies.

It'll probably beep but won't work properly. The G2/GB/F19 platform is designed for use with Fratbros (Greek) series DD's.

That 6.5" concentric "football" coil wasn't as deep as the 5" DD on my GB Pro (same machine as the G2).----The 6.5 concentric gave a little more EMI "nervousness" on my GB Pro than the 5" DD also.-----Better listen to what DJ says---he's the designer of this equip.-----The 6.5 concentric coil was made for the F-75/F-70.

Get the 5 x 10 DD, killer coil. Just as deep as the 11" stock and separates way better than both the 11" and 5" round. Just need good headphones.

I had the same results as D&P-OR. Not as deep as the 5" DD. I feel the 5" x 10" doesn't separate as well as the 5" DD and it's not as deep as the 11". I had all three coils and found I almost never used the 5" x 10" because If I need separation in iron infested sites I used the 5" and for open areas with fewer targets (trash or goodies) then I used the 11" for depth and coverage. 11" is a great dry sand (saltwater) beach coil. I used all three on my G2 and GBP and then on my F19 that I sold last week.

I found the 5 x 10 is better "in my soil" lol. Anyway, using Montes nail board test the 5 x 10 blew the 5" and 11" away. I was using the NEL 5" though. The NEL could not separate as well as the 5 x 10 which found the coins with no problems. It even worked on the elevated nail test with the nails on 2 x 4 cutoffs and 2 inces apart with a silver dime in between.

There was someone who did a soil box test on here by video and his findings showed that the 5x10 coil was better at hitting jewelry due to a tight signal that apparently was made more sensitive to small objects like jewelry and it comes with a longer cord so you can way out extend the shaft or use a separate shaft to go into the water with the coil too. So I bought one to use and because of the solid white design I like it better than the 11" for detecting can be slid along instead of swinging it and I don't notice maybe a 1" difference in depth in my 85-87 Ground Balance Mineralized soil so I stick with it and it gives a tight scan signal as good as or better than the 5" so I don't have that one anymore.

He made a vertical box that was 3 feet wide and open one side to see along that one side, the other side was the wall of a building or garage and with pvc tubes at various depths that he put the objects in then scanned over the soil top and showed the hit strengths so you could see what the coils were like and the depth achieved.

hey Dave, just curious about the coil shown in the new Omega 8500 advertisement. The elliptical coil shown is not a DD, correct? What's up with that. Omega is still a greek letter, no?

It's the same concentric coil that comes on the Omega 8000 that is out now unless you decide to pay a little more for the DD coil.
