Neat tot lot find

Hunted a tot lot today with the AT Pro and had a target register as a copper penny, search a little with my pin pointer and the result was a 1911 wheat penny. The penny is very worn but looked like a fresh drop. Who would of thought you could find a 100 year old coin in a tot lot.

I have found several wheat pennies in tot lots before 1940's-1950's but never any earlier than those. Most of the tot lots I hunt were built fairly recently.

Thats what is so exiting about metal detecting you never know what may turn up maybe the kids take dads gold coins out to the tot lot to play money and lose them hmmm

Some of the tote lots arent as new as you think. I know in some of the older parks i hunt a lot of the NEWLY built totes were in the same location as the old play grounds. Scrapping the ground, digging, and putting those wood chips ect sometimes bring these old coins to the surface. Ive gotten big signals and dug just to see what it was and it was iron posts from old slides and such they just cut off or even deep cans. Never know whats down there and if they remove some dirt even better.

Gold coins in tot lots you say Gunnar?........playgrounds are good........ Your Wheat cent is just the beginning Texcam, you will want to dig all targets that are not iron in tot lots and gold ring finds in tot lots are second only to beaches IMHO.........
